How To Become A Vendor

If you are interested in becoming a vendor at the Barre Farmers Market please follow these steps:
  • Review the Rules for Vendors below
  • Download and fill out an application
  • Submit application to [email protected]
  • We'll review your application and let you know if we think you'd be a good fit for the market
  • Once you're approved, bring cash or check to your first market
 
Rules for vendors
1. The market will open Saturday, May 2nd and run every Saturday, through October 31st.

2. The time for the market will be from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Vendors are encouraged to arrive for setup between 8 - 8:30 AM. Selling will begin at 9:00 AM. 

3. Every vendor will be expected to leave his or her selling area cleaner than it was found by 1:00 PM. Take your trash home with you.

4. Growers, bakers and crafts people may sell at the Farmers’ Market, but all items must be home grown or homemade. Executive Committee reserves the right to restrict any items from sale.

5. In order to sell, one must become a member of the Farmers’ Market at a cost of $60/year. If someone wants to “try out” the market, they must pay $20.00 on that day. The Market President has the final say if applicants may “try out” the market.

6. Permanent spaces, measuring 10x10, will be designated for regular vendors by the Market President. Additional space must be purchased. Members or “try outs” added throughout the year will fill in at the discretion of the Market President.

7. Vendors may drive their vehicles onto the Common to unload before a market and to load up after a market. Vehicles must be off the Common by 8:45 AM and will not be permitted back on the Common until 1 PM or the last customer has left the Common, whichever comes last. 

8.If a vendor must break down before the end of market, an Executive Committee member must be notified.

9. If a vendor cannot attend a market, an Executive Committee member must be notified. If a vendor is not there for 2 weeks in a row, and does not inform the Market President, they will lose their “permanent” spot.

10. Vendors must respect all decisions made by the Market President. Disputes will be settled in an Executive Committee meeting. Rude behavior will not be tolerated.

11. There will be no cashing in of WIC and elder coupons between vendors. Prices must be posted. WIC signs must be displayed.  

12. The Market President will handle disputes calling on members of the Executive Committee when necessary. All complaints should be brought to the Market Presidents attention in writing.

13. Informational literature pertaining to agriculture or listing community events will be allowed at the Farmers’ Market.

14. THE FARMERS’ MARKET EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MAY CONDUCT VISITS TO ALL VENDORS
TO PROVIDE VALIDATION THAT ALL PRODUCTS ARE HOME GROWN OR HOMEMADE.

15. By order of the selectmen, there will be no nailing into trees on the Common and there will be no parking on the Common when the ground is wet.

16. Growers must have a plug planted for 7 weeks before selling it at the market. Plants started from seed by the grower may be sold at any time.

17. There will be no smoking by vendors at their tables.

18. By order of the selectmen, there is to be no parking in front of area businesses. The municipal lot off of Mechanic Street is to be used.

19. Any violation of these rules can result in possible permanent eviction from the market with no refund of dues.
